Pretty Pettys Poem for Kids

Hey kids, this issue is just for you! We’re Amanda and Eric, and we’re poets. This is a part of our poetry business. We would like to share with you our silly, fun poems. With these poems, we’re going to TRY to teach you.

This is a “Month Metaphor” poem. A month metaphor is a tricking style. It has movement, imaginary, and livelihood. In this poem, you will see how I make October have human emotions, like “scary”. October cannot feel scared.

Be safe kids. Happy Halloween!

Treat or Trick
By-Amanda D. Petty

Here comes cooler October;
With changing, Trix cereal-like trees.
Crunching foliage, pretending I’m superman;
While I jump in falling leaves.

Here comes scary October;
With ghosts, bats, and witches,
Saying, “Treat or trick!”
I give them dots and candy corn.
I played along with a four-year-old ghost,
Trying to scare me.
He laughed when I “screamed”; and I kissed him.
I send him off to my sister.

Here comes tumbling October;
With lovers walking hand and hand.
They don’t mind the change of the season.
Soon it will be Thanksgiving.

We want to thank you for reading this.
