The Eve Of Christmas Day
By: Kofi Fianko
............................................

On the eve of Christmas,
Akua could hardly close
her eyes.
She sold sleep for clothes.
She felt excited about the
new clothes her mom had
bought for her,
and had flashes of how it will
befit her on the Christmas day.

"I'm going to look awesome among
all my friends" she whispered to
her own hearing,
not wishing her voice to be heard
by her mom who slept next to her;
she feared her Mom will get
upset if she found out she was awake.
Akua called to memory how she
wasn't
adorn with new clothes during the
Yuletide season last year.
All her friends had new clothes and
shoes on while her mom couldn't
buy her new ones.

But now, in this new season, she
had prayed her best and God helped
her mom to get her new stylish clothes,
and she's not able to sleep without
thinking of the morning of Christmas day.
Akua kept half wake till the morning
and was the first to have her shower.
"Mom where are my new clothes"
she queried whiles droplets of water
trickle down her undried body.
In a hurry, she headed to her mom's closet
and searched in it to grab her new clothes.
Akua sang Christmas carols whiles
she run straight to the living room
trying to catch a glimpse of a Christmas
movie showing on the Television set.
Fond memories of Christmas flooded
her mind and she could imagine
herself playing Christmas games with
her old friends who now live far away
from her.

"Christmas is here;
A baby has been born;
his name is Christ the Saviour
of the world."
These are the words
of an old song Akua remembered
singing with her old friends in time
past.
This morning, on Christmas day, Akua
and her old
friends will meet at the old LDS Temple,
they will gladly sing Christmas carols
and share old memories of their past.
"Christmas is here again," said Akua,
"and I will gladly celebrate the birth
of Christ who is the Saviour of the world."

We want to thank you for reading this.
